MEDITATION, WHAT'S THAT?

See to me, a girl from the south, raised in a southern baptist church with a minister as a father, meditation is something that I had never heard of yet alone done before. See growing up I was told to just pray on it and have faith and everything will work out. Stepping out and starting my spiritual journey was scary because of the unknown. I had to do lots of research to figure out exactly what this journey entails and also I wanted to gain from this journey.

See, I first started my spiritual journey I received a lot of backlash from some and motivation from others. I have always been the type of person that takes the negative thoughts of others like a grain of salt, and one of the first things someone said that was constantly repeated to me was "Girl, you better meditate." I literally looked at them all like they were crazy and said "okay so you expect me to sit here with my legs crossed and say oooooommmmm, lol." to me that just wasn't realistic like who honestly does that, and whats the purpose??

Through my rearch I found that Meditation is a practice that involves training the mind to focus and redirect thoughts. It is often used as a technique for relaxation, stress reduction, and developing a deeper understanding of oneself. Which is what I wanted and needed in my life as I have has my share of trama that I have been working towards healing. I realized that meditation doesn't look the same for everyone like I thought it was. I realized that typically in meditation, individuals typically sit in a comfortable and quiet space, close their eyes, and engage in specific techniques or practices to achieve a state of mental clarity and inner peace. The practice can vary depending on the individual's preferences and goals, but most forms of meditation involve focusing attention on a specific object, such as the breath, a mantra, or a visualization.

The benefits of meditation extend beyond relaxation and stress reduction. Regular meditation practice has been shown to improve mental and emotional well-being. It can enhance self-awareness, increase mindfulness, reduce anxiety and depression, improve concentration and attention, and promote overall feelings of calm and inner balance.

So is meditation something you do in a consistent basis or something you feel you would benefit from of interpreted into your daily or weekly routine?
